June 13th 2008 saw Pete and Steffies finally take the plunge into married life.Never ones for convention, the dress code for the day was leather jeans and lace up shirts for the chaps with the brides maids in in black and purple dresses with capes and black and purple flowers. The bride wore white right down to the specially ordered white New Rocks and the wedding cake was a snare drum with the overlay of Pete's bass drum skin on the top (and there was a normal wedding cake too !). The venue was the Park Farm Hotel in Castle Donington (and very nice it was too) and (apart from all the leather trousers) it was a pretty normal wedding. Normal apart from the camera crew from the BBC who had been out interviewing the Bride and groom and even making the Best Man, Shakes, do a live feed to the nation (well done Shakes - damn fine job and don't worry, we've all forgotten your real name already).. Why? Well it is Donington and the date the 13th June 2008 - in other words the Download festival ! The reception was pretty normal. Good food, Champagn, Newky Brown, speechs, more Newky Brown, Cake . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and then we all went off into Download ! We'd just about missed Motorhead but caught both Judas Priest and Kiss. How many people can say that they had Kiss as the band at their wedding? Excellent idea. So, all in all, it was without doubt the best wedding I've been to and will take a bit of beating. Congratulations both. You make a lovely couple and we love you dearly. Now lets ROCK ! |
