June saw Strangers headlining the Friday night at the Shoulder of Mutton “Cow Pat Rally” held at the MFN near Nottingham and then travelling all the way down to Suffolk to play the BSE (Bury St Edmunds) “Mad Cow Rally” on the Saturday night.Supported by our old friends V8 at the Cow Pat, we had an excellent night at a well supported rally where we also got to meet Malcolm Allured who played drums for Showaddywaddy. We played late into the night with mucho dancing (see photos) and then discovered Stu had a flat tyre which meant running the compressor in the wee small hours - not that any of the campers seemed to mind. The Mad Cow was the first no smoking gig we have ever played and it was quite noticeable that people would run outside for a smoke at times but we were blessed with an enthusiastic crowd who made it a really good gig. Lots of dancers up at the end. All very entertaining. Bury St Edmunds is Stu's home town and where he and Drew met and first played together and there was a hope that we would meet one or two old friends, but alas this was not to be. We also met Colin Patterson at the Mad Cow, an excellent photographer who'd come all the way from Belfast. He took a load of excellent shots some of which are here and others of which will be displayed on the web site in coming months. A heart felt thank you to him. So, two good rallies in one weekend. It was a fun jaunt doing them both and we'd recommend them to any one. Thanks for having us. |
