THE Stadium Rock Show Band

Band on stage at The Limelight, Crewe, 2002

Based in Hinckley in the East Midlands, Strangers has become known as a high quality "Stadium Rock" band playing pubs, clubs and bike rallies all over the Midlands.

This page is designed to give an overall appreciation of what Strangers is about, catering for both our audience and potential and existing venues.

This includes lots of photos, sound bites, video, history and what you can expect if you come to see us or book us.

A Little Bit Of History

Formed as "Perfect Strangers" in 1992 as a pop rock pub band, "Strangers" became a name synonymous with "Classic Rock" played in a punchy style with the power and passion that this type of music demands. The band gigged extensively throughout the Midlands and hit the heights in 1995 playing live on the TV program "Maynards Bill". Shortly afterwards, a line up change gave us the opportunity to change the name to "Strangers", which avoided confusion with a number of other local acts and again the band played extensively throughout the Midlands.

Three years later the band came off the road for a year due to 3 band members starting families. The band returned to the gig circuit in mid 1999 and has been rocking venues ever since. The last 2 years have seen Strangers playing some pro venues as well as some good Biker Rallies. We guess this must reflect the quality of what we do!

What Can You Expect

Band at The Roadhouse March 2005

A typical Set list could include songs by bands such as;

Meat Loaf
Guns n Roses
Queen
Bon Jovi
The Stranglers
Ozzy Osbourne
Aerosmith
The Cult
Fleetwood Mac
Thin Lizzy
Van Halen
UFO
Kansas
Journey
The Darkness
Muse
Sparks
Abba
Whitesnake
Deep Purple
Poison
Nickleback
The Red Hot Chili Peppers

From seventies classics such as BOC's "Don't fear the Reaper" through to the nineties with The Cranberries "Zombie" to funky Pop/Rock like Meredith Brooks to the out and out Metal (Metallica) to the drama of the full blown 10 mins of "Bat out of Hell" - If you like Rock Music, Strangers is pretty well bound to play something you like.

The actual set changes all the time in response to the demands of the audience and the venues and preferences of the band members, but the above is typical.

The Strangers ethos is to play good songs but not necessarily the "obvious" - we try to take the more unusual classics, technically difficult songs or production numbers that other bands avoid. This is a blues free zone!

Our agent first coined the term "Stadium Rock". It not only describes what we do well, but how we do it too!

What Else Can You Expect ?

Stu and Drew Rockin On in 2005

Atmosphere ! Strangers carries it's own light rig, smoke machine and pyrotechnics (See Equipment). Enjoy the photo Gallery. They're all genuine live shots.

We dress the part - rubber, leather and barbed wire! We do not look like part of the audience! (unless the Perverts in Leather MCC are there in which case we might).

We try to make sure the audience sees that we enjoy what we do so that they will too.

Sound Bites

None at the mo. Have a look at the videos instead.

Video

Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf
Recorded LIVE at the Nags Head in Nuneaton in 2007. Only taken on a phone, but surprisingly good quality - make allowances please. Watch out for the pyro blast in the middle.

Zombie - The Cranberries
Recorded LIVE at the Crown in Nuneaton, New Years Eve 2008. The band had been in fancy dress most of the evening but had just got back into "normal dress" for the final set. You can still see make up on some of the chaps though !

Bohemian Rhapsody / One Vision medley - Queen
Recorded LIVE at The Wheatsheaf, Braunston which is a tiny little pub which we had shoe-horned ourselves into. (Note Stu in normal clothes rather than leather, lycra or patchwork clothes - the only time ever !). Again, phone quality - but actually quite watchable. Stevie boy edited some pics of us onto the front to Queens original intro (which we do live). For those who have been to see us before, this was in 2007. You can tell by the old backdrop and the fact that the drums aren't rack mounted at that point.
