The BMF Tail End Rally 2006

16th September 2006

Anyone that isn't trepidatious about playing something the size of the BMF shouldn't be there and this year that turned out to be truer than ever. The support bands were awesome !

OK. Enough shit

The opening band, "Victims", were absolutely fantastic. They have grown considerably in the last 2 years and are now as tight as a very tight thing. Their ACDC stuff is just fantastic. They are a "traditional" bikers band but really are one of the best around now. I hope they will take that as the complement it's meant to be. Great set.

"Tilted Smile" - the most incredible 3 piece this writer has ever witnessed on stage. No I am deadly serious. They write their own material and won a competition to record in the USA. They have just got back and play covers sometimes to make some money on the side - at least that's how it appears.

They play some awesome Hendrix and Cream but turn their hands to newer material to. The guitarist / singer is a looney who leaps around more than anyone I've ever seen up close and gets noises out of a Telecaster that I didn't know were possible.

These boys are real pros and it shows - absolutely amazing - see this band - book this band - incredible.

STRANGERS - ON STAGE

We had an absolute blast - from entering to "We Will Rock You" to ending singing "We Are The Champions". So I could tell you all about it.

Instead - just read the comments from those who were there ! We'll start with a complete review by Dizzy Dog, the original of which, can be found at Dizzy Dog's Multiply Site.

Dizzy Dog's Review

"This weekend I went to Peterborough with about thirty other members of my bike club for the annual Tail End Rally. We camped out for two nights, along with about 10,000 other bikers and their families. As well as the camping out, we had two days of bike show with events, stalls, fairground and booze.

However the main events of the weekend for the campers were the live bands over the two nights. On the Saturday there was a total of three different live venues running at the same time. We sampled most of the groups during the evenings and had a brilliant time, especially helped along with all the beer we were knocking back all the time. However one group stood out heads above the rest. STRANGERS, based locally in Hinckley, Leicestershire, were the main group for the Saturday night.

They had the whole rally in raptures of delight with their fantastic renditions of classic rock music from masters like, Meatloaf, Queen, Metalica, Aerosmith and Gun's & Roses. Even their heavy rock version of an Abba number went down with great delight. The true sign that the crowd is enjoying themselves at these biker festivals is when the girls get lifted up into the air by their boyfriends and strip off to the waist for the crowd and dance in the air. The atmosphere in the tent when STRANGERS was playing was so charged that there was hardly a minute went by without bare knockers jiggling around for our pleasure. At one point I counted five girls up at the same time, Like I said, a brilliant night. This particular band has been invited back specially on three separate occasions to the BMF rallies because of their popularity."

Congratulations guys on your performance at the BMF Tail Ender this weekend. It's the second time I've seen you and it made a mediocre bike rally well worth it! I don't know your sexy singer's name, but that skirt! Thank God for camera phones! Keep it up and I hope to see you play again.

From Roy Martin.
